Prime Biodiversity Conservation is a Rwandan-based not-for-profit organization devoted to preserving biodiversity, combating Climate Change, and sustainably managing our natural resources for a better future. Founded in 2018 by a dedicated group of environmentalists, We recognized the urgent need to tackle the challenges and threats facing Rwanda’s rich and unique biodiversity. At the same time, we saw the potential to improve the well-being and livelihoods of our communities through nature-based solutions.
Our mission focuses on enhancing biodiversity conservation, climate change actions, and sustainable management of natural resources. We care because we cherish both nature and humanity. Biodiversity is the cornerstone of life on Earth, providing us with essential resources like food, water, medicine, and materials. It plays a crucial role in regulating our climate, purifying air and water, and maintaining soil health. Biodiversity also enriches our health, culture, spirituality, and identity; it’s our heritage, responsibility, and legacy.
Climate change is the greatest threat to biodiversity and humanity, impacting every aspect of our lives, from health to the economy. It increases the frequency and intensity of natural disasters, droughts, floods, storms, and fires and disrupts species, habitats, and ecosystems. This crisis exacerbates poverty, hunger, conflict, and migration.
Natural resources are vital for our livelihoods and development. They provide income, employment, energy, and security, enabling us to meet our basic needs and aspirations. Protecting these resources is essential for fostering growth and prosperity for current and future generations.
